WSBK: Rea's to lose

We are only four rounds into the 2017 World Superbike Championship but already the dominance of Jonathan Rea means he has a 64 point lead over his team mate, Tom Sykes. The Ducati's of Marco Melandri and Chaz Davies lie in fourth and third positions but their inconsistency may have already proved their downfall.

Fans were hoping that the new Honda Fireblade and a return of a factory-backed Aprilia team would have made for more competition for Kawasaki and Ducati but this has not been the case. Honda in particular have actually managed to take a step backwards with the new Fireblade, which boasts more power and more sophisticated electronics than the outgoing bike. It is clear that if Honda are serious about being competitive in World Superbike then then need to invest quickly in improving the new Fireblade's package within the current World Superbike technical regulations, as it is currently being consistently bested by Kawasaki, Ducati, Yamaha and even non-factory teams.
